Panchakarma Therapy

A well developed eliminative therapy to clean and rejuvenate your system. This is done for chronic ailments and also done as rejuvenative therapy to give a good immune system.

Abhyanga

Prescribed medicated oil is applied on the head and body, followed by gentle massage. This process typically lasts for 45 minutes. Abhyanga helps to relieve fatigue, vatha disorders, delays ageing, gives clarity to vision, builds up the body, ensures good sleep, and improves the colour, strength and texture of the skin.

Patra Potali Sweda

In this process leaves of Arka, Karanja, Dhatura and so on are chopped and mixed with greeted coconut, mustard and rock salt. The mixture is a warmed in pan smeared with coconut oil and then tied up in linen bundles to be used for fomentation. The kizhis keep at a coconut high temperature by warming them every now and then.

In rheumatic pains and associated swelling of the joints fomentation and massage brings relief.

Choorna Pinda Sweda

Podikkizhi is a method of therapeutic sweating. The body is fomented thoroughly with kizhis containing drugs in powdered form. Horgegram, blackgram, seasame seeds and curative ingredients are powdered and tied up in bundles. Occasionally, scrapping of coconut are also included. As moderate heat is required to sweat the body, the kizhis have to be warmed up by heating in a pan smeared with castor or neem oil prevents the kizhis from charring. After fomentation, the patient's body may wiped clean with a towel. This is followed by a short period of rest and then a bath. Application of oil on the body and head is recommended before bathing. Podikkizhi is a good for ailments due to disrupted vata and kapha doshas.

Shasthtika Shali Pinda Sweda

Here the whole body or any specific part of the body is made to perspire by applying certain medical puddings (made of a special rice alled "njavara" prepared in a concoction of milk and herbs) externally in the form of small sacks tied up in muslin bags, This is helpful in healing all types of rheumatism, pain the joints, certain skin diseases, diabetic neuropathy, and all degenerative diseases.

Kaya Seka

Pizhichil is one of the rare and unique ayurvedic therapies. This is a special herbal oil bath where lukewarm herbal oils are poured all over the body by 2 to 4 trained theraphists in a rhythmic way continuously, for about 60 minutes per day. The treatment is done on a special table made from a single piece of strychnous Nuxvomica wood. This process is extremely useful in treating rheumatic problems, nervous, weakness and neurological disorders like Hemiplegia and paraplegia.

Shirodhara

In this process, herbal oils, medicated milk, medicated buttermilk and other concoctions are poured on the forehead in a special method for 30 to 45 minutes after a relaxing full body massage. This one the most relaxation providing therapies in ayurveda and is very effective in the treatment of insomnia, sleeping disorders, mental tension and certain skin diseases.

Nasyam

Medicated oils, herbal preparations etc are poured in to the nostrils to eliminate the mobid factors from the head and neck area, effective for certain kinds of headaches, nasal ailments and cleaning of the passage.

Kativasthi

Certain lukewarm herbal oils are poured into a cap fitted on the head for 15 to 60 minutes per day according to the patient's conditions. This treatment is highly effective for facial paralysis, dryness of nostrils, mouth and throat, severe headaches, burning sensation of head and other vata originated diseases.

Urovasthi

Urovasthi is administered to the 'uras' or the chest to treat pain in the sternum. As in Kativasthi, a small receptacles is made on the chest with black gram paste, then oil is poured and allowed to remain there for some time.

Akshi Tarpanam

In this process, special herbal medicines processed in ghee is poured and kept in and around the eyes within a herbal paste boundary. This is very effective to maintain good vision and also helps in preventing & treating various eye disorders like cataract, retinopathy, etc.

Vasti

Vasti is a very significant technique, which is unlike modern enema. It is helpful to eliminate toxins, to rejuvenate the body and to treat the variety of diseases. It is to be done with great care and under expert supervision.
